About Evidence Toolbox
EvidenceToolbox is a growing collection of practical tools for genealogists who care about doing the work right. We currently have one tool released, with several more in active development.
Our Focus
We build around four problems that slow genealogists down:
- Authoring and citation friction that interrupts research flow
- Limited search capabilities across existing record collections
- Barriers to accessing important corpus collections
- Underutilized records that are broadly available but hard to analyze effectively
Why EvidenceToolbox Exists
Genealogical work involves a lot of moving parts — searching, documenting, evaluating, citing. Most of that work happens in the gaps between the big record databases, and very few tools are designed to help there. EvidenceToolbox exists to close some of those gaps.
Our tools are built to be:
- Accurate — grounded in genealogical best practices
- Practical — designed for everyday research sessions
- Clear — focused on documentation and analysis, not feature bloat
- Lightweight — no accounts, no subscriptions, no clutter
Our Roadmap
We build what we'd most want to use ourselves — then ask whether it would genuinely help the broader research community. That's the filter every tool on our roadmap has to pass.
